    • Bridging the gap between home and school - a dynamic website where parents are able to interact and comment on children's learning.
    • A blog is easy to use, you do not need to know html e.g. school web site.
    • Student motivation e.g. wiki space & feedback on stories.
    • Place to source rich resources that are available on the internet.
    • Develop thinking skills
    • Motivates learners from Special Needs through to GATE.
    • Cater for digital learners and their “Smarts”.
    • Enhances collaboration possibilities (eg: others schools in N.Z and around the world.)
    • Creates a glass walled classroom – Bridges the gap between school and parents/wider family. A dynamic website where family can interact with the class and comment positively on children’s learning.
    • E-Portfolio of Student’s Work.
    • Audience for writing, art, etc.
    • It's relevant to the 21st Century Learner (eg: those who are born in the digital age = Digital Natives.)


  • Blog Safety:
      1. General safety issues must be adhered and agreed at by whole class (see list pasted into foot of blog.)
      2. Remove Navbar.
      3. Edit html were possible so widgets cannot refer back to their site or their advertising is removed. (Use Photostory or Moviemaker to create slideshows).
      4. Pages must be previewed before linking to blog. (Pages with non-educational links must not be included).
      5. Moderation must be turned on for comments.
      6. Posts must be saved in draft form to be viewed by teacher before publishing.

  • How to get started
    1. Decide what type of blog you want to setup eg: classroom, personal, family or professional blog.
